How we work
At IDE Ghana, we are driven by a commitment to environmental sustainability to empower local people and communities turn climate and environmental vulnerability into resilience. We promote sustainable development through informed actions and advocacy. Our approach integrates actionable research and knowledge sharing, education and capacity development, and multi-actor collaborations to achieve our goals.
Actionable Research & Knowledge Sharing
We believe knowledge generation and shared learning are key elements for sustainable development. Hence, research and studies on environmental social inequality are vital in how we work, translating findings into actionable initiatives and recommendations for policy-making. We generate and share socioeconomically valuable knowledge to enhance and facilitate sustainable development.
We equip communities and local people with knowledge, tools, and skills needed to make informed decisions about natural resource management, climate action, and human rights. Through targeted training and knowledge-sharing initiatives, we build capacity at all levels, empowering individuals and groups to take sustainable actions that contribute to long-term community resilience and development.
Education & Capacity Development
Partnerships and collaboration are central to our work. We partner with local communities, people, government agencies, NGOs, and international organizations to implement community-led people and environment-centered initiatives that contribute to Ghana’s environmental sustainability goals, including the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). We welcome partnerships and collaboration that aligns with environmental protection and upholds human rights principles.
Multi-stakeholder Collaborations
Productive Mobilization of Citizens
We mobilize, connect, and network communities and local people of varied backgrounds to share knowledge and ideas for environmental sustainability and social development. We believe that to impact positively and leave lasting footprints there must be collaborations and partnerships between people governments, international agencies, and other stakeholders to safeguard the planet for the next generation.
Restoring biodiversity and building healthy ecosystems through community-led landscape management systems that guarantee a resilient and equitable future for all.
