Translating global and national policies
into locally-led Sustainable Initiatives
We are a local frontline Policy Implementation Partner
Initiatives for Development and Education (IDE Ghana) is a local non-governmental organization dedicated to environmental resilience and socioeconomic equity. Since 2019, we have served as a vital catalyst in Ghana’s development agenda, transforming national climate and environmental frameworks into actionable, community-led realities that benefit people, nature, and the climate.
IDE Ghana focuses on three integrated pillars: Climate and Environmental Sustainability, Regenerative Agriculture, and Inclusive Education. We operate at the frontline of implementation, bridging the “execution gap” by ensuring that global and national policy goals are translated into locally-led initiatives owned and sustained by the people, especially women and youth whose lived realities are shaped by these policies.
At IDE Ghana, we believe that local engagement is not a secondary benefit; it is the primary engine for environmental sustainability and socioeconomic development.
Our mission
To bridge the execution gap in development by translating global and national climate and environmental sustainability policies into community-led action.
Our vision
A resilient and equitable society where people and communities are empowered to build and safeguard their own sustainable future within localised systems that turn socioecological policies into lived realities.
“Our aim is to equip individuals and local communities, especially, young people and women with the knowledge and skills needed to safeguard natural resources, uphold human rights, promote biodiversity, and champion climate action, ensuring a resilient and equitable future for generations to come”.
Our Core Values and Guiding Principles
At IDE Ghana, we believe in cultivating leadership among local people and communities to drive positive change in environmental conservation, climate action, and human rights advocacy. We are keen on empowering and equipping young leaders with knowledge, skills, and opportunities to initiate and lead impactful initiatives that address local, national and global challenges.
Like Pearl S. Buck, we believe “the young do not know enough to be prudent, and therefore they attempt the impossible — and achieve it, generation after generation.” We are driven by a passion for environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and human rights. We set out to inspire and nurture a passionate commitment among youth to advocate for and protect the environment and natural resources, ensuring a sustainable future for all.
We are dedicated stewards of the environment and advocates for equitable access to resources. We promote responsible and transparent stewardship of natural resources, advocating for policies that safeguard human rights and support sustainable development of societies.
