About IDE Ghana
IDE: Initiatives for Development and Education is a research-to-action non-governmental organization established in 2019 as a company limited by guarantee under the Companies Act 1963 (Act 179) of Ghana. IDE Ghana focuses on promoting the sustainable use and management of natural resources, environmental conservation, and human rights advocacy.
Our mission is to empower local people and communities to initiate and lead discussions and actions on environmental sustainability, climate change, and human rights policies at both local and national levels. We aim to equip young people with the knowledge and skills necessary for environmental sustainability, climate action, and human rights advocacy, preparing them to become effective stewards and policymakers.
At IDE Ghana, we believe that a network of educated, empowered, and engaged communities have the potential to address local and national challenges related to the environment, climate change, and human rights. Our goal is to equip local people, especially women and youth to contribute effectively towards environmental sustainability and human rights.
Our Mission
Our mission is to educate and empower people and communities to drive sustainable development and promote environmentally responsible practices, while fostering respect for human rights.
Our Vision
Our vision is of an inclusive society where educated and empowered people and communities lead transformative efforts in environmental sustainability and human rights, fostering resilient communities and a balanced ecosystem.
“Our aim is to equip individuals and local communities, especially, young people and women with the knowledge and skills needed to safeguard natural resources, uphold human rights, promote biodiversity, and champion climate action, ensuring a resilient and equitable future for generations to come”.
Our Core Values and Guiding Principles
At IDE Ghana, we believe in cultivating leadership among local people and communities to drive positive change in environmental conservation, climate action, and human rights advocacy. We are keen on empowering and equipping young leaders with knowledge, skills, and opportunities to initiate and lead impactful initiatives that address local, national and global challenges.
Like Pearl S. Buck, we believe “the young do not know enough to be prudent, and therefore they attempt the impossible — and achieve it, generation after generation.” We are driven by a passion for environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and human rights. We set out to inspire and nurture a passionate commitment among youth to advocate for and protect the environment and natural resources, ensuring a sustainable future for all.
We are dedicated stewards of the environment and advocates for equitable access to resources. We promote responsible and transparent stewardship of natural resources, advocating for policies that safeguard human rights and support sustainable development of societies.
