Forest & Biodiversity
IDE Ghana actively empowers local communities to restore and protect forests and biodiversity, placing these efforts at the heart of our work to promote sustainable development. We recognize that healthy ecosystems are crucial for the long-term well-being of both the environment and local populations. Through a multi-faceted approach, we educate and equip local actors with the necessary tools and knowledge to restore forests and conserve biodiversity. Our programs emphasize the critical role forests play in providing essential ecosystem services, such as water purification, carbon sequestration, and enhancing soil fertility— all of which are vital for community resilience and livelihoods.
Central to our mission is the active involvement of young people in forest and biodiversity conservation. At IDE Ghana, we prioritize equipping youth with the skills and resources to lead impactful initiatives that drive positive change. By empowering the next generation, we ensure long-term sustainability in forest management and biodiversity protection.
IDE Ghana’s work contributes to the restoration and sustainable management of terrestrial ecosystems by spearheading community-led reforestation projects and biodiversity programs. We take a national multi-actor approach, fostering collaboration between various stakeholders to address climate challenges. Through these efforts, we make forest restoration and biodiversity enhancement a collective responsibility, positioning it as a shared national priority.
