Agriculture & Food Security
IDE Ghana actively empowers smallholder farmers with the knowledge and skills to adopt climate-smart agriculture practices, positioning sustainable agriculture and food security at the heart of our efforts. We recognize that agriculture plays a significant role in deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions, contributing around 24% of global emissions. To address this, our programs focus on teaching sustainable land management and farming techniques that not only reduce environmental degradation but also improve soil health and increase crop yields.
Through the promotion of agroecological practices, we enable farmers to produce healthy, nutritious food while minimizing agriculture’s negative impact on the environment. IDE Ghana ensures that smallholder farmers can sustainably feed both local and global populations by adopting practices that protect natural ecosystems. This approach strengthens food security while enhancing climate resilience, safeguarding ecosystems, and promoting biodiversity through sustainable farming.
Our agricultural initiatives directly support Ghana’s national objectives for sustainable farming, contributing to rural livelihoods and environmental conservation. By providing farmers with the tools and knowledge they need to embrace climate-smart agriculture, IDE Ghana helps minimize agriculture’s role in deforestation and environmental harm. Our goal is to boost food security, improve rural incomes, and align with national agricultural sustainability objectives while fostering environmental stewardship.
